Let's start with the basics. My name is Jennifer, and I'm 22 years old. I recently graduated from Kansas State University in secondary education. 2 days after graduation I started graduate school at Emporia State University to get my masters in Adaptive Special Education through their online program. Starting August, 2010 I will be taking on the role of special education teacher at a local Wichita high school, and will be teaching English, reading, and geometry. This blog is one thing I do in my spare time, which I imagine will be disappearing almost entirely starting in August.
I started this blog because several people who know me always say "You're so crafty" and "I wish I could do that" and "You're like Betty Crocker" etc. and I just wanted to show everyone out there that they can make good food and learn to crochet, or decorate cakes, or bake, or sew, or whatever it is they'd like to try. All it takes is a little determination.
The reason for the "novice" in the title is because I am a novice at everything I'll be posting. I've only been seriously cooking and baking for about 3 years. I've only seriously been sewing for about 5 months. I've only seriously been crocheting for about a year. I am not an expert at any of the aforementioned. I simply have a desire to learn as much as possible - even better if it serves a purpose.
So there you go. I hope that through my blog you will be inspired to try or learn something new, because new things only seem hard because you haven't tried it yet.
